The U.S. Department of Energy's Energy Information Administration (EIA) has released its January Electricity Monthly Update. During the month, solar PV generated 8GWh, or 2% of total U.S. electricity generation (utility-scale) for the month. Impressively, electricity generation in January increased by nearly 40% year-on-year. When including estimates for small-scale solar, the EIA reported that the U.S. generated 11.17GWh of solar photovoltaic energy, up from 8.47GWh the previous year, or a 33.5% increase.
