U.S. solar prices continue to rise, prices drop in Q3

Sep 12, 2023

In the first half of 2023, U.S. solar energy prices rose to US$2.9 per watt, an increase of 1.8% from the second half of 2022.

The median solar quote rose for the fourth consecutive month, up from $2.67 per watt in the summer of 2021, according to EnergySage. Although reaching $2.9 per watt in the first half of 2023, the increase in the median solar quote marks a slowdown in solar price growth over the past two years, with increases of 3.4% in the first half of 2022 and 2.9% in the second half of 2022.

However, EnergySage said solar prices on its market began to decline slightly in the second quarter of 2023, without mentioning a percentage or amount. Additionally, solar prices began to decline in July and August, with pricing data at the start of the third quarter showing a 3.5% decline compared to pricing in the first half of 2023.
